'RISE' - THE NEW EQ (EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE)
How to become emotionally savvy
Most EQ teaches that we must be self-aware, self-regulating, motivated, empathetic, and socially equipped.*
And whilst there is validity in these elements, there is an area that isn’t being talked about that needs to be a part of this conversation.
And what is this conversation? The connection to our feelings and emotions that are genuinely felt, expressed, owned and strengthened... allowing us to be 'emotionally savvy' and RISE.

What does it mean to be Emotionally Savvy?
To be emotionally savvy is to have a solid foundation and the ability to:
Respond and not react. Observe and not absorb. Take ownership and not project.
How we achieve this is in our ability to feel what we feel, take ownership and build resilience (the ability to bounce back).
It's not just ‘managing our emotions’, it's re-imprinting the very core of what causes our reactions until it is no longer a trigger. This is the pinnacle of what encompasses the true essence of being emotionally savvy.
Most approaches would first assess our self-awareness as the essential way to managing our EQ; this approach immediately strengthens our self-awareness just in being attuned to what you are feeling... you become self-aware as a result.
The more we can stay with what we feel, the more we gain strength and power over our mind and emotions. We get to choose how we want to feel, rather than recreating our current patterns and habits. In learning to re-imprint we get to live a more connected, present and balanced life.

did you know?...
Eagles have some very profound qualities.
They can live up to 70 years, but to reach this age the Eagle must make a hard decision to maintain its ability to thrive - die or endure a painful process for 150 days.
The process includes the Eagle knocking its beak until it breaks, waiting for it to grow back, plucking out its talons, to finally plucking out its old feathers.
After 5 months the Eagle then takes its flight of rebirth and lives for 30 more years.
They are the only bird that flies above the storm. They are resilient, have laser focus, know when to renew and when to take flight. They are the Emotional Savvy of the bird kingdom.

“When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter.
The Eagle alone, avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life...
May your heart soar like an Eagle".

distinctions of emotional intelligence
Having myself been trained in Emotional Intelligence, and in turn trained many others over the last 20 years, it has became very evident that there are three distinctions of EQ: those who believe you don't 'show or feel' emotions, and this is what it means to be emotionally intelligent. Those who haven't yet developed their emotional intelligence and struggle with all they feel. And those who have developed a bit of savvy in their life.
Below is an outline of what traits we may experience with this misconception of emotional intelligence. To be clear, I'm not saying anyone is just one way, we can be a blend of all three depending on the situations.
